At this point the only thing that I've done to it is I fixed the gas leak is that the gas leak is fixed... What I did to fix the gas leak was polish the float needle seat.

I can't figure out what's making the throttle behave like this, or making the engine sound like this:

Check vac lines for cracks and verify throttle is returning at the carb, not the handle.

All rubber is brand new, the boots, the holders, the hoses, everything, brand new... No cracks at all.

throttle is returning just fine at the carb end...

That engine sounds pretty bad. Are you positive all four cylinders are firing? To me it doesn't sound like they are. Ed

Start the bike from cold and carefully touch the header pipes while the bike warms up. If the pipes get warm they are firing. Just be careful!

I'm kind of alergic to hot engines... What about putting some water on the pipe and seeing if it evaporates?

Cylinder number 3 is not firing... Also, I'm getting a pinging or knocking sound that I've never heard before. I don't know which cylinder is producing it... I'm guessing it's number 3... It's not an octane issue because I'm using high octane.

I opened the drain screws on the bowls. Number 3 is not firing because the bowl is bone dry... The other 3 bowls have fuel just fine...

So it looks like I fixed that fuel leak a little too well... I have no idea what could be going wrong here. I've checked that gas is able to flow into it just fine by flushing it out with kerosene after I finished polishing... It's gotta be something else...

Would this happen if I installed the float upside down? I have a shitty short term memory and tend to rush in on things like this without photographing (a bad habbit I know).
