I was planning something similar to your rubber tube idea - instead of widening the fast idle arm though, I was thinking of putting an aluminium clip on the throttle pulley to close up the gap. I'll report back on what I come up with.

I've uploaded a video to show the issue. In the end I just bent the arm down a little. Since the differrence between nothing and 5000rpm was about 2mm, I couldn't make a bracket accurate enough.



It currently jumps to about 5000rpm if the choke fast idle is engaged now that I've bent it down. That might be too much, but for now I'd prefer that over too little. It's hard to tell how much that will translate to when cold, but if it's too high I can just turn the choke down a little until I adjust it again.

Sounds like you bent it a little too much. You can use the other slot to bend it back a smig. That's why there are two slots for bending.

Actually It's almost perfect. When just started from cold this morning and only on the fast idle it sits a little below 2000rpm.
