Alternate carburetors. probably the ZX550 gpz & ZR550 Zephyr models. not sure about the TK22 carbs from some of the other 550s as the gpz cylinder head may not be suitable for those. not sure. loudhvx may have the info on his motorcycle stuff page.

Thanks martin.
The tk26 have that damn plastic plugs to block a passagge. In the years is very difficult to find parts for those carbs.
And i wanted to swap from cylindric to semi flat valves.
Softer diaphragms, adjustable needles and the possibility to try more jet sizes..
I wonder if someone have a zephyr 550 to take some measurement, what carbs are stock for the zephyr 550?

It should be easy for someone with a small lathe to turn out a few of those plugs from aluminum stock... much easier than trying to retrofit a totally different carb, especially if you are using the stock airbox.
If you are looking for manual slide carbs, you can try to make some TK22 carbs work. They are round-slide manual carbs, but that would be a step backward in performance.
There are also some racing manual-slide carbs I've seen on ebay from time to time, but you are talking in the $400 - $600 range.

.
Amen. The BS Mikuni's used a rubber plug that could be shaved down if need be. There are ways...

My '85 ZX550 came with TK27 Carbs, and the TK26 fit in the same place, using the same throttle, cable, and intake holders. TK27's in my opinion, are easier to work on, and have less jetting than the TK26. I moved up to the CV30 carbs from a ZR550 on the then race bike, and had to change the intake holders to the ZR550 as well. The throttle and cables were changed to the ZR550, because the CV30 Carbs use a "push" and a "pull" cable set. When I added the Megacycle Cams, to go with the already 615cc and ported head, I moved up to the CV32 Carbs from a ZX600A/B/C up to 1992 Model. These use the same throttle and cables as the ZR550, and they also fit in the ZR550 Intakes. Because the CV32 Carbs have a larger inside diameter than the CV30, but share the same outside diameter, the Carb Holder Openings need to be opened up a little so there isn't a "step" from the carb to the holder opening. Motion Pro made me a custom Revolver Throttle Assembly with interchangeable reels. I am still using the CV32 and Throttle set up on my daily ridden GPz550.
If this is confusing in any way, take 2 aspirins, and reply in the morning.

I'm trying to choose carbs - I've gone back and forth on Keihin CRs - they're way too expensive and don't have faith motor will run well with them.
I like your idea of the ZX600R CVK 32s - that sounds like a fantastic compromise between stock TK 27s and the CRs.
But, I have a chance to buy a set of CVK34s off a '87 ZX750F - Ninja 750R. Would those be too big for a 615cc motor from an air/fuel perspective (assuming I can otherwise fit them)?
Thanks!
