Fuel line recommendations ?

I purchased a New Pingle dual outlet fuel petcock for my 77' KZ1000A. I only had some new black rubber flexible fuel line I used on my 74' Honda CB 750 K4 left over and tried to use it. It measures 5.5mm I.D.

Fuel line went over fuel tee between the stock carbs alright but was a real "bear" to get over the Pingle fuel petcock fuel barb outlets which I think they measured 5/16" O.D.

So my question is, should I use the fuel this fuel line I have on hand or try to purchase something slightly bigger in I.D. ?

What Fuel line if needed would you recommend ? I've seen some Goodyear fuel line out there that is 1/4" I.D., but would that be a benefit ?

I highly recommend you use 5/16" Goodyear fuel line. I used 1/4" fuel line for years and always struggled putting it on and removing it from the petcock and other fittings. Goodyear makes the very BEST fuel line. Please take a look at the specific info I posed at:

Ed, Where are you purchasing your fuel line ? The line appears to a spiral synthetic fuel line ? Is it real flexible ? Have to make a tight radius to the fuel T between carbs. 1 & 2 .

I bought my fuel line at Applied Industrial Technologies; take a look at the link in my previous reply for the link to that company. The fuel line is fairly flexible, but I used the stainless steel elbow shown in the link because the inline fuel filter made the bend even tighter than usual. Ed

Yep, that is what I use too - great stuff. I steer away from the see -through fuel line stuff - it turns brittle and stiff way before the black Goodyear... I use 1/4" most of the time, but occasionally 3/16" and 5/16" too, if both barbs are that size. If you have a 1/4" barb and a 5/16" barb at the other end - use 1/4" line to avoid creating a leak. I also avoid gear hose clamps in the smaller diameters because they don't reliably stay round as they are tightened....spring clamps or full band clamps are the way to go....

I don't like automotive fuel line. It's fat because it has cloth reinforcement inside since it's designed for high pressure applications. Most lines of this type require a clamp to avoid leaking too. I much prefer a thin and stretchy 7mm fuel line made for motorcycles. No clamp needed and it's flexible and easy to route here you need it to go. The best fuel line I've ever found is sold by Suzuki. It's 7mm ID and when you order the part number they send you something like 5" of the stuff for a good price. Part# 09352-70103-00B

Nessism, Ordered the line from Suzuki. Length was approximately 7 ft. Went over fuel petcock outlets and fuel Tee's much easier and is nice and tight. Liked the way it is so much flexible. Thanks for the advice !

I'm going to buy some of this fuel line. What size filter should I get 1/4 or 5/16?

I have used both, but I found the 5/16" was MUCH easier to install and remove. I will never go back to 1/4". Here's a link to my setup. Ed
