Kz550

So I got this 82 kz550 ltd. It came straight piped 4 into 2 exhaust and has pod filters, I've seen others like this that well go faster then mine. So I looked at the carbs it had 92 main jets in it which I believe are stock with stock needles. I put a stage 3 carb kit in it and put the 98 main jets in and put the new needles in the 4th slot from the top from what I read on forums on here that's what everyone does. Tighten up all the rubber boots and check for leaks with carb clean and there was none. Went for a ride on the highway and I could only get up to 65 mph with out the motor sputtering and having no power to go faster. I'm at a dead end here please help

Battery. Make certain the battery is good & fully charged by testing it with a digital multimeter. Also, you may need to check the ignition coils & spark plug wires. as the coils heat up, internal shorts & poor connections can cause performance issues.
