OK guys.... I'm gonna throw rocks at a hornets nest and ask this question. I have a 76 KZ900 with MTC 1075 pistons. Mk2 cylinder bored and o ringed. Back cut tranny. Welded crank. Port and polish. .385 lift cams.

Here is the question........ What carbs should I run other than 29 smooth bores. I'm not paying that for old carbs. I had planned on running 28 mm pumpers, but was told that they may be too small. I was also planning on running a modified airbus with the intake hole cut bigger to allow for more air since all of my buddies said pods were a pain in the ass to get running right. What do you all suggest? I found these but an unsure. They are 34 mm mikuni.

Keep the shiny side up!!!!

28mm will be fine if you want new carbs I would use 34mm flat slides or 36mm if you plan on more engine work in the future I would stay away from used flat slides I have my customers bring me numerous sets of used flat slides thinking they got deal only for me to tell them they are junk.

You will not like the BS34' s in your pics. The RS34 would be the perfect fit for your build The RS series carbs are a lot easier to tune for pod filters than the BS34's. I am running the Mikuni RS36's on my ELR clone with a modded GPZ1100 engine. The thing runs perfect with the RS carbs. I started using the BS34's but after a lot of $$ in jets, needles and other brass and after 1 year I gave up on them and bought a new set of RS36's. I wish I had done that from the start would have saved me a lot of money and headaches. I have had people tell me they got their hopped up KZ1000 engine to run with the BS34's but I have never personally seen one and those people will never get back with me and on how they did it, so I will assume they are bull shitting me. The Vm28 will also work fine for what you have, might save you some money using them.
