KZ 650 missing the Carbs
20 Jul 2016 11:17
Hi all . I just got a barn find it is a 1982 Kawasaki 650 CSR it is all there less the carbs. I went to a junk dealer and got a set however when i got home they did not fit as the spacing was off and the manifold rubbers were too large. I believe that the ones I have are mechanical and off of a older model. the ones i need are the vacuum type. My question is can I just get the matching intake boots and put on the mechanical one?. i have been told they are less problematic..

Are you sure the carburetors are from a KZ650? You should be able to install VM24 carbs with the smaller carb holders. I'm not sure if the BS32 offset is different.
ps: the 82-83 650-csr w cv carbs supposedly had a higher HP than the 81, and the only significant difference was in the carbs.

Pretty sure the earlier carb and airbox boots would be needed. Throttle cable too. Maybe something else...

21 Jul 2016 04:10 - 21 Jul 2016 12:00Good catch. Normally, he would need the airbox ducts from the 81 650-csr, but they are nla. However, what he could do is use the stock 82-83 ducts, then cut donut gaskets from radiator hose to make up the difference . I think you'd need two donuts per carb. Also, you'd probably want to use ss band clamps for a snug fit.Nessism wrote: Pretty sure the earlier carb and airbox boots would be needed. Throttle cable too. Maybe something else...
