Initial VM28SS Pumpers Setup

All,

Just looking for opinions on my thoughts around my carb setup. Now obviously I don't have a runnable engine yet, so it will be awhile before the tuning begins. The engine combination is:

-1015cc - 10.5:1
- Larry C ported head with stock valve sizes.
- '84 GPZ Cams
- Velocity Stacks
- Delkevic Header w/ 2.25" shorty reverse megaphone.

So this will be my first non-automotive pump carbs. I believe the pumper setup is completely functional, but not tested so for this exercise I will assume it functions. So my first thoughts are:

- 17.5 Pilots
- 120 or 130 Mains
- 5CN18 Mikuni needles with clip in the lowest position.
- Screws about 1.75 - 2.0 turns out.

Obviously, tuning will commence and I'll have my wide band tuner taking readings, but wondered what the collective think about the combo listed above? I am also planning on tinkering with the accelerator pump trying some old automotive tricks I know.

I'd start with 20 and 125's.

You think a second step on the pilot is needed for a mild combination like I have? Just suprised a 20 might be required.

Open intake and a cam, I'd bet on it.
