Can remove and toss the clean air paraphernalia, connect the reed cover snouts together, cover the air box hole, and cap/plug any unused vacuum nipples.

Good Fortune! :)

It's removing all the Clean Air System components.

After removing all the Clean Air System components, it's then necessary to (1) connect the reed cover snouts together, (2) cover the air box hole, and (3) cap/plug any unused vacuum nipples.

Here's a pic of Clean Air System components from a KZ750 twin, which I would suspect are similar to the KZ440 at hand.

Here's a pic about removal from the large fours.

Removing the Clean Air System components is a popular procedure, as the system does not enhance performance and provides several possible sources for air leaks.

Just stay vigilant and ever-watchful for federal marshals descending from black helicopters.

Good Fortune! :)

You will still have a vacuum tube from a carb to the fuel valve (petcock) and the fuel line from the petcock to the fuel inlet on the carbs. You may also have a pair of overflow or vent tubes.

Yes --

You may need to provide a length of small vacuum hose to run from a carb vac nipple to the petcock vac nipple, and one of the removed sections of vacuum hose might be long enough for this purpose. Otherwise, various size vacuum hose is inexpensive and readily available at automotive supply businesses (AutoZone, Walmart, PepBoys, etc, etc.).

Overflow nipples from bottoms of float bowls permit the escape of excess gasoline, and are usually connected to hoses routed to open air underneath the bike. The overflow hoses might already be attached to the carbs at hand, and if so, are perhaps still serviceable in their existing condition, and may just be left attached.

Each carb has vent from the float bowl. They might be connected to each other at a tee connection before being attached to a hose that exits to open air. Sometimes each float bowl has its own separate nipple for a tube to be attached which exits to open air. In any case, float bowl vents are supposed to eventually exit to open air.

Good Fortune! :)

Does this apply to all KZ bikes or only certain models? Is there more information about this change as well?

Applies to US models.

For more info about removal, optional modifications incident to removal, etc., could do a KZr Forum Search for key words "Clean Air System."
