Kz750 LTD 1981 pod
27 Mar 2016 06:13
Hi, i'm new here and not so good in english.
I have a 1981 kz750 Ltd with pod. The last owner does'nt change the jet. I see a couple of variation in the jet number to put inside. What are you thinking about that?
Thanks

Hi Jo714, welcome to the madness.
Is it a twin or four cylinder model?
Many factors can affect the final set up. Does the bike have factory exhaust? Aftermarket cams or other internal modifications? Stock carburetors? Do you normally ride at high altitude or near sea level?
Has all the routine maintenance been performed lately? If not, that needs to be taken care of before messing with the jets. A genuine Kawasaki Service Manual will be invaluable.
Be prepared for a long process of trial and error. It might be a good idea to search this site for a pod filter thread concerning a bike set up like yours and ridden at similar altitude.
There are several 750 owners here who can probably give you a good starting point.

I have the same bike- 1980 LTD 750. I put a dynojet stage 3 jet kit on and vance and hines 4-1 pipe and pod filters. It did not take much more to get it dialed in besides synching carbs. My stock pipe was junk and I wanna say the V&H pipe was only like $350? Sounds awesome and looks good. I can't remember the jet size I just followed the directions with the kit. Of course if you want to keep the setup you have and not change the pipe you would need different jets.By the way I'm just south of you in Burlington VT.

The DynoJet jet kit comes with stage 1 and 3. Both stages come with 2 different size jets.
Stage 1 is for the stock airbox with or without an aftermarket exhaust.
Stage 3 is for individual filters.
DynoJet jets are numbered differently than the Mikuni or Keihin jets.
The crossreference chart is posted all over the net.
