9er rider wrote: If you have an old set measure them up for length, what Ive found is the slack cables seem to need to be 3 1/2 inches long or you will have no adjustment with the 4 inch every thinf will adjust up to the very end of the threads when swaping from vm 26 or vm28s I havent any experience with any other carbs
Is it possible to cut off one end and remake the cable to the exact length needed?

Surely someone must know of a solution, and is willing to share it with US...
Please...

While looking over throttle cables available from Z1E, I developed a sudden and massive headache. :pinch:

Seems what I need is indeed the Kawasaki 54012-1245 ZN1100 cable, of which I may need two considering only it has a threaded end with nuts for attachment to the carburetor bracket, which both cables would need to have.
Kinda looks like I'll have to purchase one to find out what the slack length would be.
It appears the only cable Z1E has for the application has no threaded end on it...

The control cleaned up pretty well...definitely a dual-cable unit.

I can't figure out why Kawasaki made the dual-cable control for the 84-85 ZN1100's, but I did figure out that it's wiring loom is about 4" shorter than the KZ1100-A2.
So, while contemplating the situation it hit me upside the head that maybe (just maybe(?)) the switches would interchange from one control over to the other. That way I could swap the entire looms, instead of patching wires or swapping connectors over...
Joly crap...! Sure enough!!! :woohoo:
Wow, that was easy, and the big old rounded top cap wasn't necessary either since the old cover cap fits perfectly on top of the dual-cable base control unit,
Another thought. The air box boots should work. I'll just move them toward the carburetor set 10+ mm, which is pretty much the depth measurement difference between the two carburetor models. I'm guessing the air box would provide a consistent air supply to draw from, which may actually minimize the "clacking" sounds, so-admired by those who have them.
If the cable length will work then the puzzle will have been solved. All on my own, of course...but that's ok since I rarely listen to anyone anyway. Rarely.
Can someone explain why I'd be better off keeping the BS34's, rather than changing to Flat Slides?
