Im having an issue with my old 86 ninja 1000 i can not figure out, the bike runs perfect in low to no wind conditions but if im pushing a decent head or side wind the bike starves for fuel, i can dial in some choke & it runs good. then when i turn around & have a tail wind all is fine. also when its doing this it feels as if the wind is being blown directly into the carbs the way it surges & leans out. it didnt do this in 1994/1995 when i owned it & everything on the bike is the same as back then except cleaner lol (airbox, same jet kit its always had etc etc). the way the airbox is set up on these im wondering if its getting to much air??? shoot if i know

Not sure about that year Zx10 but most of the Zx6/7/9/11's have a tube running from the ram air duct to the carbs fuel bowls. The pressurized air gives a slight pressure increase to the bowls helping fuel delivery. You may want to check all hose connections to the ram air system to be sure there's no loose fitting or cracked hoses.

I know what you're saying as my bike reacts like that to a strong side wind too blowing just right..... ran open carbs for years and pods now but if the wind is just right ......... some kind of vacuum? and sorry don't have a clue what the fix is.

700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.
