SPECTRE KZ750 CARB REJETING FOR PODS AND SLIP ONS
23 Nov 2015 15:19 - 23 Nov 2015 15:21
Hi everyone,
I've done a ton of research on this subject, but I'm not able to find a decent solution.
I have a kz750 spectre 1983. I will instal pod filters and slip ons.
Does anyone have a good main jet (prim and sec) and pilot jet size # solution for this?
Keihin carbs... main jet 90, sec main jet 65
thanks

Get a Dynojet kit and save yourself a LOT of headache. It's hard to find jets for those Keihin carbs anyway. The kit comes with needles too which helps the tuning beyond just the jets. I have a kit purchased for my bike but decided to stay with stock so don't need it. Send me a PM if you want to discuss.

Thanks Nessism but I would prefer to try by just changing the jet to start with, instead of drilling. Once you drill, your kind of stuck with it. I changed the pilot and main jet on my KZ1100, went +2 bigger main and +1 bigger pilot and its working very well.
Now I want to do the same on my KZ750 Spectre, except I can't find solid information on those CV34.
I have a spare mikuni BS34 from another part bike KZ1100, I pretty sure it would fit in my Spectre... is it easier to rejet a Mikuni?

The Dynojet kit includes new needles and main jets. They don't mess with the secondary main or pilots. The needle change takes care of the low and mid range mixture tweaking.
The drill bit is to increase responsiveness of the vacuum slide. If you don't care about that then just skip that step.
[strike]Finding jets for those Keihin's can be an expensive challenge. Good luck with that. [/strike]EDIT: Z1 has jets for good prices so this concern is eliminated.
Switching to the 1100 carbs will also pose some challenge since both the fuel and air jets may have to be changed.
Either way you go you will have to do some work to get the bike running properly.
Oh, and hope you are buying real K&N pods. Those cheap Emgo units look similar but are pretty much junk in comparison.

Primary main jet and secondary mainjet can be bought from z1enterprises for 5 USD each (original Keihin) or 2 USD each OEM.
Slow pilot jet only through a Kawi dealer, and it is only available in size #35. JEtRUs sells the same slow pilot jet in #38size, but another user here told us emulsiĆ³n holes are different.

thanks for your reply... I know and I am a customer of Z1 Enterprise.... but I'm asking for #s.... anyone did this before?
what size should I go on main and sec.main jet?
I read that the pilot jet (slow jet) should stay the way it is.

The needle in your carb set is N10A, so having a tock secondary main jet of #90 for pods and 4 into 1 you can go as high as #115.
N10A (spectre shaft) and N01A (E and H LTDs) are totally different. This is just a suggestion.
The needle differences are crazy. N01A versus N10A are like opposites. N01A with a huge taper almost going down to a needle point, versus the N10A fat & blunt.
In N models, pod and 4into1 jetting is: 35 - 65 - 110/115.
In E and H models, pod and 4into1 jetting is: 35 - 70 - 140.

very cool... thank you.
Already having 35 Pilot, and 65 main jet, all I need to do is change my secondary main jet...
Because I dont have a 4 in 1, only modifying the length of the the exhaust tubing by about 2 in... and installing some shorty slip-ons...
Guess I'll try 110 for secondary main jets to start with.
thanks for your help
