Problems w/BS34's On My '77KZ1000 was created by Drooz
We put a set of BS34's on my '77 kz1000 this season. Got the boots, filters and throttle cable sorted out fairly simply. The carbs were cleaned, jetted and set up by Wired George.

Almost immediately, the carbs started leaking fuel and no amount of cleaning, adjusting and setting float hight could get them to stop. ;) I got new float needles (no viton tips) and seats and that helped but now I'm having the same issue with one carb. The floats are all set identically but the bowl on the right carb fills and spills out the filter.

Anybody else have issues with BS34's like this?

Nope, all 34s I've run seem to be perfect, if george set them up I'd have to assume he put new screens on the seats and new seals too? Clear tube the trouble carb or just try to set it dry?

my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

Ya, so far just 'dry' but I guess I'd better try the clear tube method to verify the fuel level. Thanks! :)

BS Mikuni's are real sensitive to dirt/rust/crud from the tank propping the float valves open, if your tank is not perfectly spotless, you will have dribbles.

Almost immediately, the carbs started leaking fuel --- might happen if any gasoline whatsoever was allowed into the freshly cleaned carbs without having first passed through a good in-line aftermarket fuel filter.

no amount of cleaning, adjusting and setting float hight could get them to stop --- would imo have been a mistake to mess with the float tang adjustments as set by wired george.

bowl on the right carb fills and spills out the filter --- the crankcase oil may have already become contaminated with gasoline. Would sniff-test and examine physical quality of the crankcase oil.
