kz650 h2 - go with vm24ss or Bs32?

I got a 82 csr a few weeks ago and it has what I believe to be the Mikuni BS32's on it. I am putting a stock exhaust on this bike and the BS32's came with pods. I have the vm24ss from my 81 csr and I have the airbox and boots for it as well.

So I can go with BS32's or VM24SS's on the 82 CSR....Which way should I go?

Thanks,

Jeff

I have VM24SS carbs on my '77 KZ650-C1 and they have always worked great. I'm 99.99% sure the BS32 carbs are the CV type which means they have those diaphragms that can (and do) fail. My vote is for the VM24SS carbs. They work great and simply do not have problems. Ed

Everything Ed states is true. All I will add is you can use either if both sets are in good shape and clean. You will certainly need to do so tuning with the CVs and pods, unless they were set up correctly in the past, than you would with the vm carbs and a stock air box.

Ok. I think I will go with the vm24's I have a dynojet kit and a k&n filter for the air box as well :) I just did not want to switch it out if there was some obvious benefit of the bs32's. The 82csr is listed at 67 hp vs 60 hp of the 81 csr it is a slightly different engine but I thought the hp difference may be the carbs...

I doubt the carbs are solely responsible for the differences in the HP ratings, The earlier B and C models with the VM24SS carbs are rated at 64 hp. Ed
