Question is will a torn air cutoff valve cause the rpm to surge to 5000?
Bike has been running great. Had the throttle stick open (had to push them back down to close).
Took off carbs to check, never found anything.
Lubed the cable.
Carbs not sticking now.
Adjusted valves and replaced leaking gasket while I had them off.
After reinstalling the carbs Bike would start with choke and rev high. Turn off choke and would idle rough.
Found a few minor air leaks and fixed them. Started to sync carbs and could not seam to make any difference.
They would all the sudden rev to 4 or 5 thousand rpm. Had to shut it down to keep it from over revving.
Thinking still had vacuum leak but where?
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Ken

Are carbs properly seated into the carb holders and clamps tightened?

Are all vacuum plugs/caps installed and in good condition?

Are any components of the stock clean air system fitted?

Good Fortune! :)

Yes, Yes, No want to get it close before putting it all back together. It should run even without filters.

Air cutoff valve = coaster diaphragm, some carbs have them to stop popping when you get off the throttle.

After more reading i'm thinking stuck throttle plate or timing advance.

Found the #3, and #4 carb boot screws were not tight as they could be.
Also found the screw for the #3 boot to the carb clamp would jam throttle.

Corrected both and shes running good so far.
