82 550 Carb rebuild kits - air screw in particular

Last night I was cleaning up a set of TK22 carbs from an 81 550 LTD. The bike is new to me, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it would appear all four carbs have a new rebuild kit in them, in great shape. (need to verify they are legit, not knock-offs yet).

Anyway, as I pulled out the air screws, I noticed that one of the o-rings was split. I tried to replace o-rings on my other set of TK22 carbs and had some difficulty finding just the correct size (will likely order some from Z1 if they have the size). Anyway, as I was inspecting the air screws, I remembered back to a question I never posed on this forum:
My Keyster rebuild kits that I purchased, say, in 2008, came with new air screws - but they looked different. Not only was the head of the screw different, but they seemed longer and had a different taper. I never ended up using them, and all the remaining other parts were the correct ones.

Has anyone else ran into this scenario? I will try to post some pics of the two air screws side by side tonight.

The incorrect part isn't unusual, especially if the kits cover a range of models. Also, it has been reported here n there that the taper is wrong on some aftermarket jet needles & air screws. Keyster comes to mind as one of the brands that I recall.

For curiosity's sake. If you have a digital caliper, using the Sudco catalogue, you might be able to figure if they match any Mikuni or Keihin air screws. They have the jet needle taper diameters, but I'm not sure about the air screws. It's been a while since I've viewed their catalogue. The available info can be pretty handy, less so for TK carbs though.

I don't remember if my K&L airscrews have a different taper than stock, but K&L TK22 airscrews have a longer head, I assume this is to make adjustments easier.

I have no issues with my aftermarket TK22 airscrews.

Yeah, I remember the head is for sure different.

As for the o-rings... Loudhvx posted the dimensions of it, but I cannot find the exact on at Z1. Any other ideas for sources? I don't need the whole kit (really, unless its REALLY bad, the jets and air screws seem to last forever...needles, seats and o-rings are the ones that wear out)

Take a look at the link below. I may be wrong, but it appears that the air screw o-rings are still available from Kawasaki, so any dealer can order them. Ed

I see that.... Well, I don't have a dealer anywhere near me, but I bet Z1 can get them for me if I call.

I used to get some oddball orings here.
newmotorcycleparts.net/fuel_system_parts...v_gl_carb_parts.html

But I don't remember if they had airscrew orings.

That site is different now.

Ok took 2 pics side by side. One you'll see I zeroed them at the base of the head. The other at the end of the threads. Either way the rebuild kit one looks different.

Anyone have any thoughts on these pics? Same screw? Wrong screw? I threaded one in and for it to be the stock 1 3/8 turns out it felt kinda loose - like it might vibrate its way out.
