1976 KZ750 Twin Carb Rebuild Question was created by Modrummer
Hey guys, I have a KZ750 twin in my garage that I"m finally digging into. It hasn't run in 15+ years as far as I know.

I just took the carbs off and took them apart to find that (aside from a rebuild kit) they also need new floats(the ones in there are rusted to death). I went on Ebay to try to find some cheap floats for the BS38 carbs, and it looks like it's gonna cost ~$30 per float, plus $30 per rebuild kit, so we're talking $120 to rebuild both carbs. For that price, I could probably just find someone selling some BS38s that are already rebuilt.

My question is, are floats somewhat universal? As in could I buy the floats off another type of carb (saw a few similar looking ones going for $10) and use them in my BS38s? OR is there a cheaper place for me to buy floats?

Thanks for the help!

Adam

Go to partzilla or Kawasaki.com and get the correct part number for your specific model. Put the number in the search box on those sites and see what comes up. It is likely that several versions if the BS carbs use the same float, but you need the proper ones, not just some lookalikes. A quick peek at the Mikuni site might yield some good info, too.
