KZ1100A2 jetting query. was created by Joe Fabulous
I've recently bought a U.S. Model 1100A2 shaft. It came with genuine K&N pod filters fitted and a butchered stock exhaust. It didn't run well and was still on the standard carb jets.

I've now added a 4/1 V&H megaphone pipe and am ready to sort the jetting out. I've found a stage 3 dynojet kit (djk 2310) but it is listed as being for a KZ 1100 CSR / Spectre.

I can't see it being much different and should at least get it running fairly well if not perfect. Dynojet can't recommend I fit it as it's not listed for my specific bike.

Has anyone fitted this kit into their 1100A2 or if not is anyone running the same modifications I have and if so what jets etc are in your carbs?

Many thanks.

Good luck tuning those CV carbs for pods. Take a look at the link below and the video it contains. The video is worth watching all the way through a couple times to gain an appreciation for how CV carbs work. Ed

Nice choice with the Vance & Hines. :) I put a spacer (2-1/8"ID x 1.5" long) over the collector which forces the header forward in front of the engine for head-pipe frame clearance.
The stock air box provides sufficient-clean air for the engine, and the intake is located away from bad element exposure. It also makes jetting an easier process too. The set on my bike are fine-enough tuned without a Dynojet kit. IMO, pods and jet kits only serve to make tuning a more arduous process, for whatever perceived gain may be achieved. I'd rather put the extra effort inside the carbs with genuine Mikuni parts, and skip all the aftermarket stuff, with exception of the air filter. Getting the interior carb components right will get you further down the road...faster.
Of course, having a GPZ tip-top end makes a difference too. I have to keep reminding myself about that.

Thanks for the replies, sadly I know the process isn't easy and I understand how the carbs work. Apart from the exhaust the bike is as I bought it. I don't have a standard airbox so what I have is how it needs to run, it needs jetting. I have seen them previously that run perfectly well with pod filters, indeed my Z1000 chop runs very well, sadly the setup on that isn't right for the 1100.
