Carb Rebuild was created by weales
Got my carbs "Hydrablasted" recently and thought I'd share some pics of the job.
A mate did these for me - inside and out and they came up pretty good
- nil damage and a lot of crud/surface corrosion has gone and a now have a durable surface which
is I'm told "fingerprint resistant."
Will give 'em a bath/blowout before re-assembling - as advised.

Dayuumm! What is this magical "hydrablast" that you speak of, and where can one find the hydra to blast with? :silly:

I'm about to clean some vm28s and they're pretty nasty. I'll have to google hydrablasting and see what options there are.

Those are some pretty carbs, dude...was he able to clean out the channels as well as he got the bodies?

It looks like your mate didn't pay much attention to the carb configuration when he reassembled them. He mixed them up on the rack. Ed

There are many names for the process but they are all the same thing even though - some of them are a bit misleading
such as Vapour blasting as there is no vapour involved at all.
Basically it is a slurry of water and media in a sump that is sucked up via a pump and then mixed with compressed air
at the nozzle. It is very basic and you could make your own 'ghetto spec' one with a few simple parts.
All the systems do the same thing there is no one that is better than others but some may have features
that make it more operator friendly or are simply larger in size.
The media is a fine mesh glass called 'Inda' it is a common readily available manufactured glass
that has a consistent size.
You can use different grades and types of media to give different surface finishes.

All you eagle-eyed blokes spotted the "deliberate" assembly errors! :P
(I actually number-stamped the carbs prior to sending them away to ensure correct and easy assembly -
although gurus wouldn't need to do this as it would be obvious to those with more exoerience)

The lesson here is to not assume that a re-assembled unit - such as a bank of carbs
has been put together correctly - unless it's been done bysomeone who is qualified .
Always check against your parts book/workshop manual.- or with our KZ-R gurus!

"...was he able to clean out the channels as well as he got the bodies? "
Hey Aphex, yes the channels (ports/holes/pasages, or whatever you wanna call 'em)
got the same treatment and as far as I can see all are clean and clear.

I will be giving them a wash in warm soapy water then a blowout to ensure no blasting medium
is left behind before I rebuild and refit.
