Soda blast 550 carbs? was created by apbling
Been thinking of soda blasting my 550 carbs and either 1 leaving them or 2 painting them. Question I have is do you think soda blasting is a little extreme for the tk-22 carbs? I made the mistake of lemon bathing my first set... It took the finish off them and they "dusted" everything. (If you touched them left hand your fingers silver).

All of this parts have a protective coat. If u remove it ( soda blast ) u will need to protect the aluminum some how or with time you will notice white builtup.....corrosion.

I've media blasted both BS CV Mikuni's and Keihin CV's before and they turned out great. There is no protective coating on them as near as I could tell. Understand that if you blast off any plating the steel parts will rust. I removed all the hardware and replated them before putting the carbs back together.
