Being it's not engineered for that, I can't tell you. I rode for a year like that. Platinum plugs, better, BP8ES NGK's. didn't foul as fast, smaller pilots, even better. At last I got everything I needed one piece at a time, valves, springs, valve guide seals and gaskets. Smoking stopped, Didn't really smoke except on start up. Just a puff. Now it was too lean. OK start over. It runs great and soon when I put in my 10.25/1 pistons, I'll dial it in for good. :woohoo:

My story above is meant to illustrate how oil burning can effect jetting.

Stock position for the nettle is in the 4th groove (second from the bottom) from the factory on a KZ650 ......... I have mine in the lowest 5th groove with the 700cc kit 750 cam, pods and header.

The carb kit you bought that had the 118 mains in it .... did it have nettles too ? Those are different from the stock ones too.

1978 KZ650 b-2
700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.

Go back to stock and start over. Aftermarket jets are drilled differently. Mixing them and stock parts is an error. Use their jets and needles or get your own Mikuni ones. I'd take out the nossles and see if they are the stock ones too. Who knows what the PO did and you may be shooting blind here.
