Ok so I took it out and ran hard on expressway.. Seemed to be pretty lean ... I know plugs look black but see how quick tips burnt the soot off after hard run... I upped jets to 135 mains... Pulls like a different bike... real hard...
Now for next and most important question... While I was changing main jets I noticed the one carb that seems to be puffing back through carb Needle jet falls out down toward plunger when I remove the main jet, I read where these are a slight press and need to be pushed out by loosening jet and pushing them out... I assume its not supposed to fall out. looked up on partzilla didn't look like o ring on part.
so is this a problem ?

Even with pods and headers, I can not run anything larger then 120 mains and 20 pilot jets ... and even that was when closer to sea level.76KZ900 wrote: Ok somewhere along the line I picked up a stumble/miss when letting clutch out in gear. It misses stumbled and so on. After that it's fine and it idles ok. Sitting in neutral it revs fine. I removed carbs , cleaned pilot jets. Blew through carbs with carb cleaner. Actually soaked jets in carb dip then blew through them. Also took out 148 mains. It was running crazy rich. Pilots are factory 37. Plugs still look dark sooty with 127.5 mains. Synced carbs and checked float level. Complete dyna ignition, coils and all.
Now at 5280 ft above sea level, I am using 115mains, 20 pilot (considering 112.5 mains and 17.5 pilots), stock needle clip position and about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 out on the mixture screw.

I think that is an emulsion tube.
Not sure how to keep it installed if loose but it would be bad if it kept falling out while the engine
is running.

It will only fall out when you have the carbs upside down, and get pushed up when installing the jet from bottom. Insert the jet very carefully for the initial thread catch, and it may stay in-place. Otherwise (with carbs off the engine), you can hold it down with a finger tip from the in-feed side while threading the jet in with the other hand.

What I need to know.. Is should it FALL on it's own with jet out?

 With the slide and jet needle removed, the needle jet pushes up easily, without the main jet holding it in-place. The notch in the side orients the needle jet position and keeps it from turning while the main jet is threaded in.
