83KZ1100 Ltd Carb pilot and main questions was created by 76KZ900
I took my carbs off tonight to mostly see what main jet PO had installed. I found 148 mains (holy crap) and metal caps covering the pilots. How do you remove the metal caps... they are sticking up a bit so I can grab them but wasn't sure if they unscrewed or pulled out like the rubber ones I've seen before. Carbs are factory bs34. Also what is a good starting point for mains and pilots for pod filters and 4 into 1 pipe. Also complete Dyna ignition.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration
The sacrificial metal (aluminum) caps are about 1/16" thick. Use a small drill bit to put a hole in the cap center, then drive a screw into it in order to have something to pull it out with. The pilot screw is directly below the cap, so drill through the cap very-carefully so as not to run the tip of the bit into it
I'm running 132.5 mains, which may be too rich...but the engine seems to perform well with them. 148's would be way too rich, in my case.
Get one of these, for sure:
