Bowl screws are M4X16 16 total required
They can be purchased inexpensively at McMaster-Carr I use the S.S. ones to eliminate the possibility of rusting

What did you do about gauge flutter and where do you find four gauges, ball valves , fittings and tubing for $30?

Okay here's the scoop.

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QXXIWGW?psc...i_detailpage_o00_s00
3.99 a piece

www.harborfreight.com/14-in-full-port-ball-valve-68254.html
$3.99 a piece

www.harborfreight.com/14-in-x-14-in-fema...-coupling-68200.html
$1.99 a piece

No link but the last fitting need is a maile 1/4in to 3/16 hose barb.
$1.79 a piece

Tubing was 3/16" @ 0.24$ a ft, 20 ft.

The bracket is simply a T-Shaped deck strap available at any hardware store, bent in a vise and drilled for the gauges. $2.79

So I did have a 50% off memorial day coupon for HarborFreight to be at 33$ with tax, but this is still at $42 full retail.

Gauge flutter. The ball valve can be closed nearly all the way and functions the same as a dampener. Alternately you could skip the valves and jam one of your old pilot jets in the top end of the hoses for the same effect. The valves completely eliminate flutter and still register active vacuum.

Again YMMV, also you can pay a bit more and get the thing fully assembled for 70$ + shipping online in a cpl of different places. I had fun doing this.

I will post video soon, as I will be replacing a broken adjuster bolt that I fudged up with the wrong screwdriver.

I had a problem with the levels moving around and losing mercury if they fell over. I stuck a lag bolt in the breather and cured that problem 20 years ago.
Steve

They also had a nasty habit of the mercury being sucked up when revved. Not now.

Just a thought, doesn't closing the ball valve to whatever degree required to address valve flutter lower the vacuum reading for that carb???
I really don't see how it couldn't
I have an old time one like Steve showed, however mine came with a check valve in each line to eliminate mercury being pulled up the lines to the carbs. Still works great after 30 yrs.

That's what I was thinking. Part of the reason to have them is to get a accurate vacuum reading. It shows the health of the engine.

There is no change in amount of vacuum. It's not psi. On these old vm24 carbs there is no need to use anything but a vacuum gauge and balance them within 2cm. When the flutter is going at full open valve it just pulsing the gauge. Same vacuum level. All the vacuum setups have a dampener inline. YMMV. R
