KZ305CSR idle mixture screws and adjustment was created by happyhunter
I have had starting issues with this bike since I bought it last year. Very unreliable. I have done a lot to it last summer:
Derust tank
Clean carbs
New points and condenser
new plugs
new intake manifolds
new aircleaner
I continue to have problems. The plugs get fouled in about 100 miles and it gets hard to start. If I clean the plugs or just run it a couple miles without the airfilter it seems to go good for a while.

One area that I notice and want to address is adjusting idle with the mix screws on the side of the carb. One side (I forget which side) turning the screw does affect how it idles. On the other side turning the screw has no affect on the idle. The screws look the same. I pulled them apart the other day. I know there is to be a flat washer and an O ring in each carb in front of the mix screw. Neither side had a washer. Both O rings were torn. Will this affect the idle or is the O ring just to keep the screw from turning???

I want to try swapping the screws from side to side to see if that changes which carb can be idle adjusted. But right now I can't even get it started.

Thanks,
HH

Hi, I have one of those too. Sounds like you need school up on carb function and tuning.

It's very important to get the mixture screws right and very easy. If you're fouling plugs you must be too rich. Remember our mixture screws are on the fuel side of the carb so winding them out makes it richer. The stock setting is 2 and 1/2 turns out from LIGHTLY seated. Start from there and see how she goes.

I'm wondering if your plugs are fouled from being too rich or if they are oil fouled. Can you post a pic of a fouled plug? It must be smoking. Is it blue smoke?
