05 Apr 2015 17:21 - 05 Apr 2015 17:32
how do I know what year carbs will fit on my bike ? I know the earlier kz took manuel sliders.can I use anything newer of kz s as long as there 34mm vacuum sliders.for example can I use kz1100 carbs and just change my jets and needles. or do I need 1000j carbs .can I use 1990 kz 1000 police carbs. where do I find this info ?my dino jet kit required me to drill out the intake side air blead.the result I got was way to lean. idelcircuit and uping the pilot jet did not help idel.way to lean the pipes glow red even when I turn the air mixture screws way out or in!!

kz1100 carbs will work on your bike also police models will work. gs1100 carbs will also work and 36mm gs1150 . All these carbs have the same spacing. If you use gs carbs you will need to use the throttle cable bracket from your old carbs. Dave

Be aware the gs1000 carbs have different bowls (no, really not a joke choke pickup tube in slightly different spot) and quite different air bleeds etc. Not to mention the needle/seat are different with the seat pressed in and o-ringed vs. the screw in gasketed kz type.
I just went thru the ones on my gs1000 and have a bo of kz1000 bs34s that had better float bowls and had to use the gs ones

You can also use the VM 26's off earlier KZ1000 and Kz900.
