I would heli coil it if I didn't have an extra motor. With 30+k on 36 year old bikes, I think it's safe to assume that a top end would do wonders. Besides, I don't want to spend days and days trying to get it to run half way decent when a simple top end rebuild would make it run like new.

I actually think I'll get this one a new top end and get a stock daily driver, then build a turbo out of the other motor. Any one who has done the turbo before please pm me. I'm looking for info on it other than build threads. I need to know how to do it properly. Thanks

Is the replacement motor from the 80'? Might want to check the cam chain aspects... they did change them, about 1980... or so.

Just wondering...the tank/tail graphics look like 1979 to me....Definitely different than originals were on my 78... Not a huge deal on most stuff, but there are some year specific parts that could cause you some parts return shipments...And "timeserts" are supposed to be superior to "helicoils" for your stripped plug hole...Good luck with em!
