Where exactly does the petcock get vacuum from?
I do not have an air box and there was nothing hooked to it when I bought it.

One or more of the carburetors may have a vacuum port --- typically on the engine side of the carb body.

Not sure on your 550. Some times there's a port on the carb holders between the carbs and the head.

I have 3 ports on the engine side that are used to sync the carbs. Can I use that? Should I just use one of them and leave the other two capped?

In order to sync the carbs, there would have to be four ports. You can cap three, and use the fourth for the petcock.

I believe, normally, two of them would have connected to vac hoses for the emission system, above the engine. A third would have gone to the petcock. The fourth would have been capped. Without the Kawasaki website, I can't really look up parts and compare any more, to be sure.

There's a bunch of manuals in my signature. You should grab all of them while you can.

He probably doesn't realize one of the ports is already plugged or capped --- probably #3. :)

Partzilla & PowerSportsWarehouse have good diagrams.

Yup. Missed #3 from left while sitting on bike. I used #2 and made sure the rest were capped. Emission system deleted since I have no air box.
Bike runs great once warm. Still needs a lot of work and tires are beat but it was real fun to go around the block on.
thanks,
