To properly delete the accelerator pump on the 80ltd 28s you just swap out the float bowls for ones from some other non pump carbs like the extra set of 26s I have sitting around?

I don't think you even have to do that much. I thought you could just block off some ports with a blanking plate... but it's been years since I've inspected some de-pumped 28's.

So, new guy curiosity here... Why would you delete the accelerator pump on the VM28's?
Just wondering....
I'm mid rebuild on a set right now and am looking for new needles.

It's a request from a friend; it was disconnected because "it was a hassle" the sets I have still are hooked up AND working so honestly i dont know. One of my sets of spare parts carbs has lag screws for drain plugs so it is obvious a lot of stupid crap gets done with bike carbs

The carbs had to be jetted lean at the factory for EPA regs, so the accelerator pump was added to inject more fuel into the carburetors during acceleration or something like that. So if you rejet the carburetors, then apparently the AP isn't needed. This is my understanding, anyway.PDXDave wrote: So, new guy curiosity here...
