Background info....i got a '79 KZ400 LTD and i am trying to make it back to stock. got an airbox back on. got a carb kiI and stock petcock. just took apart and reassembled my carbs. put everything back on...no extra parts!....and there is gas in the vacuum line going back to the petcock. Is that bad? what causes that? How do i fix it?

there is gas in the vacuum line going back to the petcock. Is that bad? -- Yes, bad, because the vacuum hose is supposed to be fuel-free.

Would suspect something wrong in the petcock, such as being dirty or incorrectly assembled, or having a defective diaphragm or defective o'ring, etc.

Good Fortune! :)

Take a look at the diaphragm inside the petcock. It probably is damaged and allowing fuel to be drawn into the vacuum line. If so, replace the diaphragm or the petcock. Ed
