1982 kz550 gpz carb issue..

I just bought the bike and dug into the project. Ordered kawasaki manual today. The bike starts but runs rich and won't idle.
My question is with my limited experience can I fix it or should I look for a good mechanic?
I really want to do it myself but I have heard that the CV carbs can be very tricky and I want to run pods because the air box is wrecked and I like the looks.

You should also download the manuals and wiring diagrams in my signature, and take look at the valve train warning.

The easiest way to jet those carbs is to get a Dynojet (sometimes sold under K&N) kit. There is one specific for your TK26 cv carbs.

Thanks for the advice. I got the 1 &3 dynojet kit on the way and the pods.
Does anyone know where to get or if I need a carb rebuild kit? I've searched this site and the Web but I can't find a rebuild kit.
Page 363 of the manual I have shows an exploded view of the carb and I do not see any gaskets so maybe everything I need comes in the jet kit?
All four diaphragms are in good shape so I lucked out there.

Not sure on the rebuild kits. A good place to ask would be the gpz550 forum. I think I recall the bowls used o-rings.
