Fuel Mixture Screw???
28 Aug 2014 08:55
77' KZ1000A stock VM26 carbs. I notice there is an Air Mix Screw in the back ( air box side ) of the carb. outside the fuel bowl that I removed. But is there a Fuel Mixture Screw on these carbs.? Nothing on the outside of the carb. body did I notice a screw for adjustment or something that might be caped off?

77 carbs changed. The mixture adjuster screw is at the rear, bottom of each float bowl The factory put white nylon caps over the screws to limit backyard mechanics from playing with them. Plus it was the start of EPA regulations.
Over the years those caps disappeared.
Any picture?
It is in the correct year manual.
Hope this helps.

1977 had only the pilot screw adjustment on the bottom of the carbs. Turn in for leaner, out for richer. No air screws were used on 1977 KZ1000A. 1978 same thing, although late 1978 they may have added the plastic restrictors. They did on the late 1978 KZ650B2A, not sure they followed the same idea onthe 1000A or not. 1979 KZ1000A went to air screws that had a dab of yellow paint to discourage fiddling with the mixture.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

My carbs. have a Fuel Mixture Screw or Pilot Screw in the bottom front of the carb. facing the intake manifolds. Just looking at the carbs. wrong.
