Fuel flow issues

I have an 85 kz550 It ran great till about a month ago, I was on my way home ran out of gas so I put about a gallon in to get home. Parked it got busy and when I tried to start it it won't start. It fires a little when I turn it over but with and throttle at all the starter just turns. Very little gas in the bottom of the filter it does not seem to be flowing at all though. Any help to get back on the road would be great.

Did you try replacing the inline fuel filter and cleaning the filter in the petcock? It sounds like there was dirt on the bottom of the tank that got sucked into the line when you ran out of gas.
