Kz650 with VM26's

Can anybody diagnose this issue?
Bike starts fine and idles fine ,and runs great smooth as a sewing machine as long as I'm accelerating.
Here's my issue: at a cruising speed (any steady speed) the bike runs/sounds choppy almost like a two stroke at cruising steady speed! Is this normal lean or rich?
Bike is very responsive at any speed any gear as well.

Also must add that carbs are only bench synced, I have a mercury gage and will balance them this weekend in hopes that will improve the issue, also bike has pipe with no silencer and pods installed also big bore kit.

The 'no silencer' is your problem.

What do you mean by, "sounds choppy like 2 stroke" is this detonation in the cylinders or is the bike surging under steady throttle?

I would just like to add that I just discovered a vacuum leak, two of the intake rubbers were missing the rubber plugs. I put new plugs over the fittings and wow what a difference . The bike is way smoother and runs a lot better now.
