I had a thought for CV36 pilots (KZ440)
13 Aug 2014 12:43
So I've got an 82 KZ440A LTD which has stock exhaust but cone filters instead of an airbox. Starts hard and I get a bit of stumble under low throttle. I opted to go up on the mains to, I think 190 if I recall right. I wanna put bigger pilots in it, but of course they are not easy to find. I've got a power sports junkyard about an hour away I am going to call and see if they can find something for me, but I had an idea.
Looking at the size of the pilots on the 82 CV36 carbs, and seeing what's available online, I see Keihin makes a 25 series jet. It looks very similar, only the tube is not as long. Has anyone tried these to get a little more fuel into the pilot circuit?
Here are some pics for visual comparison:

The end of the emulsifier tube usually has to seal into a port. With it being so short, it won't reach the port. It will be open... not saying it won't work, but it will not be working as intended.

Well the pilots came today. The 25 series are a different thread so I couldn't even try it. I ended up trying to make some intake "runner" tubes out of duct tape and coke cans, and they made no difference. Last I tried the old sock trick over the cones and now it runs considerably better. So I guess if anyone is stuck with cone filters on a kz440, put socks over the cones.
