Carb Rebuild
09 Aug 2014 12:25
I am new to the forum and heard as rumor that I could find a decent carb rebuild source here. I have a 1980 KZ1000 LTD with Mikuni 28s w/accelerator pump. I had a local shop do them... what a disaster. I am hoping to be able to ride yet this year so long lead time is not desirable. Any help is appreciated, I am in Portland, OR.

I would open them up and see what needs replaced, chances are all you need is a couple gaskets, and some needle valves. I just wrote up the process for float adjustment, and made mention of my disdain for the kits. Z1enterprises is a good source for the stuff. I recommended calling and talking to them, they normally can steer you on the right course.
Mine:
04 Honda rebel 250(wifes)
04 GSXR 750(bolt on galore)
98 CBR 600F3(filter, pipe, adjustable cam sprokets, dyno tune)
76 KZ900A (LTD gauge pods, crash bars, LTD(style)pipes, dyna coils and ignition, headwork and mild port cleanup by cavanaugh racing, K&N filter pods, heck I dunno.
