My wife asked me if I still loved her - I said "Honey, I love you more than new carburetor boots ! "

Hi Guys -
On my '82 GPz750 I'm running '84 Carbs that I bought from Sandy, and with stock airbox, K&N filter in it, stock exhaust, I ended up running #115 Jets, with the needle in the middle position to get the plugs the right color. A lot of the cold-bloodedness went away too, with the mixture screws at 1 1/2 turns out.
I still get a little lean stumble once-in-a-while, and I keep thinking that the '84 Carbs didn't have the aluminum plug/o-ring over the pilot jet, and I'm wondering if they're supposed to be there.
The carbs that came with the bike had the plugs, but those were '82 carbs.
So hopefully there's a guru here who can tell me if all BS34's had them, or not all ?

Your understanding is consistent with the info at kawasaki.com showing '82 BS34 carb pilot jet with the plug and '84 BS34 carb pilot jet without the plug.
Good Fortune!

Are the plugs necessary? ...on the carbs with them. Any vacuum issues with the plugs removed?

The plugs are necessary in carbs designed with the plugs, and fit over the pilot jets to cause fuel draw through a small passageway from the main jet into the pilot circuit.
The plugs being referred to aren't "vacuum" plugs, nor "tamper-proofing" plugs.
