Intake rubber boot, have done something wrong? was created by Hemmek
Hmm it seems that my new intake rubbers have failed. :pinch:
Meaning not possible to synchronize the carbs.
Anyway.
it seems that I only have a small leak so far anyway but still.
The bike runs ok but crappy idle.
I belive I may have overtighned them when I installed them.
(I wrenched until the plate was flush against the cylinderhead)
Did I do something wrong here?
Are they any torque specs for the intake rubber boots?
Or how hard should I tighten them?
I do not want to ruin another set.
best regards H

What year, make and model.
Perhaps FSM provides torque setting.
Including information about bike year and model is helpful to viewers and usually elicits better responses. It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future. And the signature may be changed whenever and as often as desired. If wanting a signature showing information about the bike in posted messages, it's easy to do. Here's how:

Put a little 3 bond on the head side of them before installing, snug them up within reason.
After a 50 or so miles check the screws to make sure theyre still snug.
you can check them for leaks by spraying carb cleaner around them and listen for idle to change.

Could try one of these:
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...+1194&item=TU53-0395
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...+1211&item=TU53-0403
May be difficult to achieve a long lasting seal in this area, because products available aren't sufficiently both gasoline-proof AND heat-proof.
The Three-Bond reportedly works as well as any, but isn't a substitute for new carb holders.

Even the factory uses some form of 3 bond stuff on them when new.
