RS36 needle clip

Here is a weird problem. I took my ELR cone out for a ride yesterday, all was running great. I passed a car then the engine started running rough like only on three cylinders. It would idle fine and smooth but when I gave it throttle it would run rough.
Got it home and started troubleshooting. I found #1 carb's needle was not where it should be. It had fell threw the slide and was sitting on the bottom. The needle clip had either come off or broke. I tore the carb apart looking for the clip, no luck on that. I put it back together installed a new clip and all was fine. I never found the clip. The RS36 carbs have slides that fit very loose and while looking for the clip I noticed there was enough room between the slide and body to allow the clip to be sucked into the intake tract. I think that is what happened. I did a leak down check on the #1 cylinder and it was fine so I am hoping the clip just was sucked into the cylinder then spit out the exhaust.
