cleaning my petcock resulted in a broken rubber ring inside the bottom "bowl" on top of a metal filter. Is the ring a replaceable one I could find locally? O must I special order it?

If you have a Harbour Freight close by, they sell a box of Viton O Rings with various sizes for about 10.00
Viton is heat & chemical resistant, sometimes your local hardware store might carry them

I can try to help you find the part, which year/model bike do you have; there were a number of different stock petcocks depending on the year/model. It helps if you add that info to your signature line. Ed

Ah, good! According to Kawasaki.com the original part number for that o-ring (51037-010) has been superseded by part number 43049-1070. Part number 43049-1070 is still an "Active" part so any local dealer can get it for you if they don't stock it. Partzilla lists it at $1.82. Notice in the diagram it goes below the metal strainer rather than on top of it. Ed

Excellent!! I have decided to do alot more Than just "get it running"! Of course that will happen first! But I have some brake issues, paint and pipes that are going to be dealt with in the near future. Decided to after taking the petcock apart. Any good advice for redoing the inside of my tank? It is not horrible but it's not good.
