HELP! Runs Great until warmed up
24 Apr 2014 16:07
Hello All!
I have 1978 KZ650b with GPZ Cams, New Intake Boots, pingle fuel valve, New Gas Cap, rebuilt head/Bore, Dyna S, 4 into1, K&N Pods, Sparx Battery Eliminator (Reg/Capicitor).
Issue:
Bike starts easy (Kick only)....has strong power but I suspect still some jetting issues with the needle. Any who I ride the bike for about 10-15 minute...ton of power idles good no issues. The bike warms up and then it wont idle unless I stay on throttle. Bike will start up immediate no issues.... but in order to start I have to use throttle.
Could this be my float adjustment? Or possible carb sync issue? I benched sync the carbs to get close and then used a vacuum gauge from a VW (Snail style) to tune.....it was pulling roughly 3psi or 3kg/h .
Guage:

Thank you!
Mark

Could be the fast idle screw needs turned in what are your roms? Turn it to 1000 rpm and see it its fine. Might need to clean carbs sounds like possible plugged pilot circuit
Vacuum gauges dont pull psi, they are measured in inches mercury.

Are you using the choke when cold (and it runs well) and then it runs crappy when the choke is turned off?
If it starts easily cold WITHOUT choke and then runs bad when hot..... sounds like something is running way too rich

Thank you! I have moved my needle jet to the 4 notch form the bottom. Now the bike will idel after warm up and all.
The issue now is it does not want to accelerate with out of clutch/throttle teasing.
Pilot Jet is 107.5 or whatever is 2 up from stock.
