Can you use duplicate throttle cables? KZ650

KZ650B,

Motion pro, Parts unlimited and my local bike part store show just one cable part number for the KZ650B (1977). Kawasaki clearly shows two part numbers, and they are certainly different comparing the two in that when both are pulled one direction, the "push" cable is about 3/4" longer (eye balled it.)

Kawasaki:
54012-140 CABLE,THROTTLE CON,OP
54012-141 CABLE,THROTTLE CON CL

Of course the Kawasaki cables are no longer available. I don't HAVE to have OEM, just need to make sure it works.

Any experience?

I have been having the same problem with Motion-Pro cables, They insist the cables are the same, but they are not and one is too short to use.(spent hours trying to install it) :sick: I used an old cable that I had kept that was low mileage,wasn't happy about it but it got the bike on the road.
I am considering boycotting Motion Pro over this

As always, you're the man! Both those cables are on their way! I didn't seem them when searching ebay, but I did grab the missing side cover I needed in the same color!
