29 smoothbore mixture screw setting ?? was created by mtkawboy
I have an 1105 motor, street porting, 10.25 -1 pistons, 395 lift 260/260 cams, Kerker exhaust, oil cooler & 29 smoothbores with K&N pods. All the specs Ive seen on mixture screws call for 1 1/2 out and my bike wont run like that. It wants to be like 1/8 to 1/4 out. Im also at 3700 ft elevation. The bike runs great like it is but Im curious as to why it wont run at everyones mixture specs. Also is in on the mixture screw rich or lean ? What weight oil do you guys run ?Thanks for you help

It depends on what size slide cutouts you have in your 29's. 1.5 mm slide cutouts should require 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 turns out on the screws. If your cutouts are 2.0 or 2.5, the setting for the Kaws is no more than 1/4 turn on the screws. I believe the larger cutout slides were made for Suzukis and Honda 750s. Once you find a setting that works, just leave it. It should idle just like stock carbs.
