BS34 Carb question was created by GPzEric
On my '82 GPz750 the carbs need to be rebuilt, as they have 17-year-old gas in them, and the enricher knob is doing nothing.

I have the parts coming, but the enricher knob itself is missing, so I ordered one, and I'm getting the whole shaft & knob.

So has anybody here changed out the whole rod, or am I better off just figuring out how to remove the new knob and put it on the original shaft ?

My wife asked me if I still loved her - I said "Honey, I love you more than new carburetor boots ! "

When you disassemble the carb bank to rebuild them, the entire shaft comes out. Be careful, though, there are 2 tiny metal balls that operate the full / 1/2 out function. If you do not have these balls (there are grooves cut into the shaft to hold them in place) it will not stay put in the full / 1/2 out position.

So can I pull out the rod without losing them, or will they go flying ?

They are not spring loaded, they just sit in a groove on the rod. They are very tiny, easy to lose, and will fall to the surface below your carbs when you extract the rod. They will attempt to go visit the sox you lose in the dryer. That location no one has ever been able to find.

Put an old bath towel under the carb when you take it apart to catch stuff that falls off. Id advise removing the carbs to do this but Ive never really tried it the other way
