Another jetting issue...
23 Mar 2014 19:46
Well in my novice attempts at building my first bike I did the unthinkable....
I am running pods and straight pipes!
I know, I know...
So, everything runs great. The bike idles and revs properly. I ordered a jet kit from 6 Sigma from Amazon/eBay and everything worked pretty well but now I am trying to fine tune everything.
When test riding my bike it starts out fine but at about half throttle it falls flat on it's face. I have no power. I am not sure whether or not I am getting too much fuel or too much air. I have searched and read both as being the cause to the problem.
Any and all help or suggestions would be great. I am planning on buying jets, most likely mains, and starting to try to figure this out.
Thanks in advance!

What color are the plugs? Black = mains too large. White = mains too small.

The plugs were definitely black. They were not wet and not sooty.
Fuel was leaking out of the overflow leading me to think that I was too rich and all the fuel was not being used.
Thanks for the help.
Now I need to figure out what size the OEM main jet is and which ones to buy...

Make sure nothing on the carbs blocked. I had some gunk in one of the passages that caused the same type of problem.
