Carburetor opinions please! was created by Zapzuta
Ok here it is. 1976 Kz 900, 1075 kit, blue printed, welded crank, head is ported to max with kibble white ss valves, shim under buckets and 3x Andrews cams. I want to change from 29 mm smooth bores to new technology witch carbs and set up should I use? Also my 29 mm smoothbores might be for sale:) they are in very good shape and are painted engine grey (correctly) with chrome covers.

New technology would be fuel injection. That sounds like a lot of money, work, money, trial and error, and money to me. Other than the desire to employ new technology, is there an underlying reason you wish to remove the smoothies (poor performance, maintenance, etc.) ? Ed

Mikuni RS34 will work fine. Schnitz Racing always seems to have the best price on Mikuni Flat Slides. I hate to tell you but you take full advantage of the RS34 Flat Slides, your cylinder head should be reworked at the port entrance. You can simply bolt on J intake manifolds and install the new carbs but the port entrances will be too small for optimal setup.

You may also need richer needles or the next size needle jet for the carburetors. Fuel just isn't what it once was and everything seems to want more of it these days. You'll have to see what works for you with your particular setup and your environment.
