I have a 1981 kz440 B and Im having a hard time finding out what carbs are compatible for bolt on. Any help would be awesome it has 36mm heikin cv carbs now. ive read that theyre garbage. i need new diaphragms but those are no where to be found. some other things in the carb needs work as well. so i figured why not get new ones, haha. Again any help would be great, Thank you

regarding the diaphragms you could check with JBM Industries assuming they are still in business

I have never used them but did bookmark their web site in case I needed them.

You should be able to find lots of good information including manuals here www.kz400.com/

Sorry I dont have any experience with 400/440s but hope this helps until someone who is familiar with your model comes along

My Stepfather was a short person, and he had a new one of these. That thing was really cold-blooded and needed a careful starting procedure.

I got it working a lot better by putting in the Canadian parts, and tweaking the float level just a smidge.

My wife asked me if I still loved her - I said "Honey, I love you more than new carburetor boots ! "

I bought a 2 into 1 aluminum manifold from 11thourindustries. The guy is awesome to work with.

I then used a mikuni vm34 I bought off amazon. I'm still dialing in the carb but, it's so much more responsive then the cv carbs.

I discovered those guys years ago on a Yamaha website of all places and posted it up here for guys having problems finding diaphragms for cv style carbs.
Anyway the last time I talked to the owner he was basically stamping/casting rubber parts one at a time in his basement,as far as I know he still is.
The 650 Yamaha guys swear by him.

posting from deep under a non-descript barn in an undisclosed location southwest of Omaha.
