kz1000p carb questions

Hi there, new member here. I just picked up a 1990 Kz1000p and am in the process of bringing it back to life, I hope. I have two questions. What carb rebuild kits do you recommend and do you have a preference for where to get them? I guess three questions. I plan to use pod filters and stock exhaust, what jets do you recommend or do I need to change them? Thanks for the help, Keith

Kits cost a lot and I have never bought a kit. Just clean the carbs real good and pay particular attention to the float needle seat. I clean mine with brasso and a Q tip. If that doesn't work for you then buy the kits.

If the bike has 34's I would jet them 40/140 to start. Roy

Thanks for the info. Yes it would get spendy for the kits. I will disassemble as suggested, clean and get those jets.

If you are just adding pod filters I would leave the stock jetting alone and just shim the needles.

I would try and keep a stock airbox myself to save lots of tining headaches.

Wireman, after mulling it oover for a few days, I agree that keeping the stocker is the way to go. Thanks for the input by all. Keith
