This is kind of a carry over from my other topic (Help tuning) but it made such a difference I thought it needed a topic of its own I adjusted the floats this morning per Patton's instructions and just got back from a short ride and it was day and night difference from the way it was running.2 of the carbs were way high but I didn't think it would make that much difference it sounds good and pulls hard now I need to do some throttle chops to make sure it's not lean with the 115 main jets.

I totally agree. Getting the fuel level at the correct height - measured not eyeballed - makes a huge difference. The first time I did this I knew before I even got the bike out of the driveway that it was way way better.
Like P21 says a proper synch will finish it off like icing on a cake :)
Good luck

I use a radiator overflow tank I picked up at AutoZone for around $9. I put a piece of fuel line in it and connect to the carb fuel line with an inline nipple. I have a long zip tie that I slip over the bars when using it. When not using it,.I place the fuel line on one of the tanks nipples to keep the fuel from evaporating. The tank has 3 nipples, one is sealed and the other one is open to vent the tank and allow the fuel to flow. That is the one I put the fuel line on when not using it. The tank has a cap on it so it is safe to use.
The top level of the fuel should be no higher than the highest lever of fuel in your gas tank so the pressure on the needle and seat is not too great.

I have always used my tank set off to the side on a Craftman portable work bench with a longer fuel line. I like the suggestions here better, im always nervous that I will knock my tank off the bench.

*Caution: This job should be left to those with experience and training, and should never be attempted by anyone without fully-considering the potential consequences of making a mistake. It is potentially hazardous to mess around with gasoline. And besides...it stinks.
If you have any reluctance, don't do it! If you blow up your garage and kill yourself in the process, don't blame anyone here for making a suggestion.

I do the same. I have some plastic nipples and longer lines I use for this. I take my tank off and set it up on my wooden work bench which is about 4 and half feet tall. Gonna set the tank up there anyways where it can't get hurt so might as well make use of it. Just as safe as being on the bike and probably even safer.
